Some suggestions for activities

We have created a catalog of activities that may be relevant when staying at Finca Alamo. The catalog includes a number of suggestions with text taken from the various suppliers’ own websites. We have added the possibility to add an assessment and review of this activity. It is important that this is used, so we get a history of how the activities are experienced.

If you have suggestions for things that should be included (or perhaps removed) in the catalog, it is nice if you send us tips.

Restaurant visits

Restaurant visits can be a natural and enjoyable part of a spa trip.
There are two good restaurants within walking distance of Finca Alamo: Venta Garcia and Venta Victoria. Both offer good food and good service.
- Venta Garcia can accommodate larger groups if you book well in advance.
For those looking for a slightly fancier meal, we recommend Sarmiento Brasa Andaluza
There are a great many good places to eat in Estepona. Sur is a typical steakhouse that has been very popular, especially during the volunteer work season.

Venta García Casares

Venta García is a good choice among the ventas in Casares. They deliver a great dining experience in a nice setting. The restaurant is just a few minutes' walk from Finca Alamo - and recommended by those who have been there.

Venta Victoria

Venta Victoria in Casares is a charming "venta" along the Carretera de Casares. The restaurant offers authentic Andalusian cuisine in an idyllic location, just a few minutes' walk from FInca Alamo.

Bathing places

Along the entire coast there are a number of fine bathing beaches.

Casares Beaches consists of several beaches located in a row.
This is the area you reach by driving directly towards the coast from Finca Alamo.
Manilva Beaches is the area you reach by driving a little further south along the AP7. The beaches in Manilva are ideal for those looking for a quiet and relaxing place to sunbathe and enjoy the sea.
Estepona Beaches. Estepona has a number of good beaches, some of which – and perhaps the best – are within walking distance of the city center.
Baños de la Hedionda – Casares’ magical sulphur baths are well worth a visit!

Casares Beaches

Casares Beaches consists of several beaches located in a row. This is the area you reach by driving directly towards the coast from Finca Alamo.

Casares Costa

Casares Costa has some of the most beautiful beaches on the Costa del Sol. These beaches are less crowded than those in nearby tourist resorts, creating a relaxed atmosphere.

Visit Casares

Casares is one of the beautiful white towns (pueblo blancos) of which there are many in Andalusia. Casares is just a few kilometers from Finca Alamo and is definitely worth a visit.

Pueblo Blancos—the name comes from the custom the residents of these villages have of whitewashing the facades of their houses. More than 25 villages literally shine out at you from the green hillsides, where they are scattered throughout the Andalusian countryside. They entice visitors with friendly locals, good food, and exciting streets to explore on foot.

Mijas Pueblo

A whitewashed mountain village with an authentic Andalusian charm, just a few kilometers from the coast.

Setenil de las Bodegas

Setenil de las Bodegas is one of the Spanish white towns. While most white towns are built on a mountaintop, Setenil is built into a canyon. But the most special thing is that many of the houses are literally built into the cliff.

Ronda is one of Spain's most famous white cities, although strictly speaking it's not very whitewashed.

Old towns “Centro histórico” or “Casco Antiguo”

Several of the major cities in Spain have an old, often well-preserved core known in Spanish as “Centro histórico” or “Casco Antiguo”.
- Casco Antiguo emphasizes that it is the old part of the city.
- The historic center focuses on the area’s historical value and significance.
Estepona has a beautiful and well-preserved old town. It’s great to stroll the streets and maybe grab a bite to eat at one of the many fine restaurants.
Marbella also has a very popular old town that is worth a visit. In the middle of it is Plaza Naranja – the orange square with lots of places to eat and a great southern atmosphere.

Tarifa

Located at the southernmost tip of Spain where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Ocean, Tarifa is a stunning destination that combines beautiful scenery, history, water sports and a relaxed atmosphere.

Hiking and cycling tours

There are great hiking and biking trails accessible directly from Finca Alamo.
The nearby towns of Casares and Estepona are also great for walks.
A coastal trail is being built along the coast, and it is planned to be more than 200 km long. Much of it is already complete. In Estepona, it is called the Senda litoral de Estepona.
- In Estepona, you can now walk along almost the entire coastline. You can walk or ride a bike. It’s a nice trip.
Rental of bicycles: Some of the places that rent out bicycles are included in the catalog and are linked to below. In our experience, bike rental ranges from €25 to around €50 per day. Shipping to and from the Finca is additional. If you are going to ride in the mountains, we recommend that you rent a good MTB type with suspension.

Tour 4 Arroya Hondo – Casares – approx. 13km

Nice bike ride near Finca Alamo. Can also be suitable as a long and nice walk

Tour 5 – round trip Finca Alamo approx. 5 km

Nice walk near Finca Alamo about 5-6 km, but can be shortened to 3km

Tour 6 Pasada del Pino ca 15 km

Hikes 6, 7 and 8 are variants of nice hikes that can be taken both on foot and by bike. There is a high probability that you will see a selection of birds of prey - eagles, vultures, falcons etc.

Tour 9 – Mirador del Castillón – approx. 3km

This is a popular trail for hiking. It is described on several hiking sites and on Alltrails it is called Crestellina Natural

Tour 10 – Mirador del Castillón – approx. 24km

This is a popular trail for cycling. This is the trip Drammen Sande took with MTB bikes in September 2025

Tour 11 – Casares Bird Observatory

A nice hike up to the Casares Bird Observatory - a place for great views and birdwatching.

Tour 12- Pico Las Chapas – Mirador del Castillón – approx. 11km

This is a popular trail for hiking. The tour takes you to the top of Pico Las Chapas.

Tour 13 – Walk to Casares about 5.5 km

Nice walk to Casares starting at Venta Garcia.

Walking or Cycling – Coastal Path – (Senda litoral de Estepona)

"The path which connects the Costa del Sol" Imagine if there was a 200 km long blue path connecting beaches and harbors all along the Malaga coast. The Coastal Path is a dream come true.

Trips in the mountains

Andalusia has many beautiful mountain areas with opportunities for great walks. Around Finca Alamo and Casares, the scenery is characterized by the Sierra Crestelina, which stretches north of Casares, and the Sierra Bermeja with the peak Los Reales east of Casares.

The mountains here are famous for the magnificent birds of prey that soar over the area. These are large birds such as vultures, condors, eagles and falcons.

For an easy hike, drive to the top of Sierra Bermeja, then hike on easy trails for stunning views of the Costa del Sol.

At Finca Alamo, we think of every evening as a community night with good food, good conversation and community.

Sometimes you can treat yourself to a real party night. For example, a gratitude party with extra good food and service.

There are several catering companies that can deliver to Finca Alamo.
