This is a great trip for both hiking and cycling.
The tour goes partly through a rural area with fincas and beautiful scenery and partly into a wilder mountain area.
In addition to great views, there is a high probability of seeing a variety of birds of prey – eagles, vultures, falcons etc – on this trip.
- Towards the mountains, the surface is characterized by forest roads of varying quality. It’s generally fine to both walk and cycle, but be aware of both loose and solid stones in the road.
- The tour leads into the Sierra Bermeja mountain range and offers great views towards Estepona and all the way to Gibraltar and Africa.
- The tour follows a valley side northwards and the opposite valley side southwards again.
- The trail passes a place where birds of prey are fed with carcasses from slaughter. You’ll also pass a large water reservoir that is a combination of water for birds of prey and fire protection. As you walk into the valley, you’ll see that some of the trees are marked by previous fires.
- At the end of the valley you’ll come to Pasada del Pino (Pine Pass) – a waterfall that comes down from the mountain.
- The road then continues south on a relatively nice road and path. Parts of the trip down here have slightly steep descents with poor surfaces, so it is recommended to rent the bike down the steepest hill.
There are three alterative routes that have different endings:
- Tour 6 Pasada del Pino ca 14,5km
- Tour 7 Pasada del Pino ca 15 km
- Tour 8 Pasada del Pino ca 15,2km
Shorter trip as a hike? If you take the trip as a hike, you can choose to shorten it by driving the first part. Check that it’s okay to park where you leave the car and that you can get there on the return trip. Close to the route point
