Tarifa is a city in Andaluc\u00eda in southern Spain.<\/strong> It is the southernmost city in continental Europe and lies on the Strait of Gibraltar. Spain’s and Europe’s southernmost mainland point, Punta de Tarifa, lies within the boundaries of the municipality. <\/p>\n

Due to strong winds, the city is very popular with surfers and kiters. When the wind comes from the Atlantic, it is stronger than the wind from the Mediterranean, but it also brings more waves. Due to the wind conditions, there are also many wind turbines in the area. <\/p>\n

The city is named after the Muslim commander Tarif Ibn Malik.<\/p>\n

The pristine white beaches of Tarifa are as majestic as the 800-year-old castle that is the pride of this southern Spanish town. Windsurfing and kiting are a must here, and the sea sparkles with the promise of teeming marine life – perfect for keen freedivers. In the evening, Tarifa itself sparkles with bars, nightclubs and tapas bars over a low shoe. <\/p>\n

Tarifa is known as the kitesurfing<\/strong> and windsurfing<\/strong> capital of Europe due to the strong and reliable winds from both the east (Levante) and west (Poniente). Beaches in the area, such as Playa de Los Lances<\/strong> and Playa Valdevaqueros<\/strong>, are perfect for beginners and experienced surfers alike. <\/p>\n
